Celebrating the accomplishments of African-Americans. Dr. William Edward Burghardt (W.E.B.) Du Bois February 23, 1868 – August 27, 1963. Dr. Du Bois was a philosopher, historian, sociologist, author, editor, civil rights activist, journalist, educator, Pan-Africanist, and a co-founder of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) in 1909. Dr. Du Bois became the first African-American to earn a Ph.D.from Harvard University.

His radio station, WERD-AM, was established in Atlanta, Georgia on October 3, 1949. Hannibal of Carthage may be the greatest military commander. I respect the courage that he had as he lead his people through many battles. He lived between 247 B.C.- 183 B.C. He is an example of the greatness that exists within us as African-Americans. I am thankful to be a black man without shame, guilt, or a desire to change that reality.
