Good morning family and friends! Jesse B. Blayton, Sr. is the first African-American to own and operate a radio station. His radio station, WERD-AM, was established in Atlanta, Georgia on October 3, 1949. Jesse Blayton was born in Fallis, Oklahoma on December 6, 1879. http://www.facebook.com/AfricanAmerican100 Celebrating accomplishments of African-Americans.
