Today’s Word Is “Courage”

The word of the day is “Courage!” It is necessary to possess this quality. Courage is defined as: “strength of mind to carry on in spite of danger or difficulty.”

Anything worth having is worth working hard for. To work hard for the things that we want or need is an example of courage. The bridge between our current situation and reaching our goals are sometimes full of danger or difficulty. Having the courage to take the first step may take us a lot further than our hearts or minds could imagine. Be courageous in all that we attempt to do and watch the magic happen!

The Words We Speak!

Be very careful of the words that we speak in the ears of others. Words have power! This is especially true when it comes to our loved ones. Our loved ones can include our children, our spouses, our parents, and our friends. The love, respect, and appreciation which others have for us may cause them to hold our words in high regard. The power of our words can be used as a form of a teaching tool, an endearing gesture, as well as simply encouragement. The power of words can also be used as a weapon to tear down or even destroy another. This is played out in relationships each day. During those moments of disagreement, things are sometimes done and said in order to hurt the other. Once those words have been uttered, they can never be taken back. The effects of those words may continue to live in their hearts even after they have offered forgiveness.

Personally, I can remember words that my dad said to me many years ago. Some of those words were very encouraging while other words brought about shame and guilt. I can see a lasting effect in my life even as I attempt to overcome them.¬†Once words have been spoken in the ears of others, they can’t be taken back. Yes, others may forgive but those words may forever live on. The power of those words have already hit them where it hurts, right in the heart!

Be mindful of the power that we possess through words. Use our words in order to bring the best out of those whom we say that we love by offering hope and encouragement for others.

Benefits of a Book Festival!

There Are Benefits to Attending a Book Festival

There are benefits to attending a book festival. I attended the Decatur Book Festival in the Atlanta, Georgia area, this past weekend, in order to promote my books. I am an Independent Author and my books are “100 Years: A Journey to End a Vicious Cycle” and “These Are Your Flowers.” The interactions while at the festival were priceless. I connected with several individuals such as writers, editors, authors, illustrators, publishers and most importantly readers. I gained a lot of useful and valuable information from this experience. I believe that book festivals are a must for an Independent Author. This is book promotions at its best! I think that authors can build fresh momentum for their books and their brand. One of the best things is adding a “face” and “personality” to an author. Remember that the author is the brand of his/her books. Besides the expenses of travel and renting booths, book festival can be “free” by walking around and working the festival.¬†I wish continued success to all of the authors working tirelessly in order to gain exposure. I am actually checking my schedule for the next book festival. I encourage other authors to find an upcoming book festival near you and take advantage of this free promotion. It works if you work it! My books are available on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/-/e/B00TLXK5L6
