Benefits of a Book Festival!

There Are Benefits to Attending a Book Festival

There are benefits to attending a book festival. I attended the Decatur Book Festival in the Atlanta, Georgia area, this past weekend, in order to promote my books. I am an Independent Author and my books are “100 Years: A Journey to End a Vicious Cycle” and “These Are Your Flowers.” The interactions while at the festival were priceless. I connected with several individuals such as writers, editors, authors, illustrators, publishers and most importantly readers. I gained a lot of useful and valuable information from this experience. I believe that book festivals are a must for an Independent Author. This is book promotions at its best! I think that authors can build fresh momentum for their books and their brand. One of the best things is adding a “face” and “personality” to an author. Remember that the author is the brand of his/her books. Besides the expenses of travel and renting booths, book festival can be “free” by walking around and working the festival. I wish continued success to all of the authors working tirelessly in order to gain exposure. I am actually checking my schedule for the next book festival. I encourage other authors to find an upcoming book festival near you and take advantage of this free promotion. It works if you work it! Editing My Book (Book Update)

Hello Everyone,

I just wanted to give everyone an update on my book titled “100 Years, A Journey to End a Vicious Cycle.” I am on the final stages of the editing process. Everything appears to be on schedule. The book cover design is already complete. Everything is coming together. I am really looking forward to the finished product. This book sheds light on the repeated cycle of prison within our society. I believe that this book will help some of the younger generation when facing peer pressure of drugs and criminal behavior. I am excited to see this movement of breaking the cycle  come to life through this book.

100 Years, A Journey to End a Vicious Cycle

100 Years!

100 Years!

This book is  a true story of how one man attempts to end the cycle of prison in his family. Mark’s family wasted more than one hundred years in prison. Mark shares some of his most personal parts of his life in order to prevent others from experiencing some of the same things. Mark understands that there are a number of other families with multiple family member in prison. This problem isn’t isolated to Mark’s family but is a community as well as a society issue. This is much more than a street, drugs, or crime story. This is a story of courage, determination and faith as Mark makes positive changes in his life. After serving more than a decade in prison for drugs, Mark was released and had a new perspective on life. He went on to make significant changes in his life. He didn’t allow the tags or stigmas of being an ex-felon to hold him back. There were a number of challenges that he faced when seeking employment but he continued in each instance. This is a must read and has the potential of making a significant difference in our world. The book is scheduled for release in March or April 2015.
