I just wanted to share my new career as an author. I continue to hold my current job, working with troubled teenagers. I stepped out in an effort to officially start my career as an independent author. In the process, I now have a new-found appreciation and respect for the profession. Being an independent author requires a lot of hard work and dedication. We are responsible for writing, editing, book cover design, formating, illustrations, marketing and promotion of the book. It can be an act of Congress to get your book into bookstores. You post on social media network and receive minimal likes and feedback. Some of this can be discouraging and cause you to lose interest in your dream. My words to other aspiring author’s is to continue to reach for your goals. Writing is a gift from God, use it to help others. Offer your gift of writing to the world even if you’re not appreciated. Be professional when reaching out to bookstores and be able to accept “No” for an answer. Be respectful when encountering customers or fans. All the while others may not share the excitement of your gift to the world.
I going full steam ahead with my new career. I just released my book “100 Years, A Journey to End a Vicious Cycle” in paperback on Amazon and Kindle ebook. My book is also available on http://www.journey100years.com. I became a little emotional when I saw my book on Amazon.com. This was an accomplishment for me. Hard work does pay off. This is not a get rich quick profession but the value is found in the lives that may be positively affected by your book.Best wishes to everyone and don’t be afraid to step out on faith and pursue your dreams.
Good morning everyone! I just wanted to remind everyone that dreams do come true. I made a lot of mistakes in my life. During my teenage years I started using and selling drugs. My academics in school declined to the point to where I gave up on any hope of being successful through working on a job. I then redirected my energy towards surviving on the streets. As a result of living the life of a street hustler, I ended up going to prison. After serving a two-year sentence, I continued the same lifestyle. Within a years, I was back in prison for drugs offenses again. During this sentence a saw more than a decade pass before being released in 2004. I took responsibility for the many mistakes that I’ve made in my past. I have been on a journey to make the best of the rest of my life. I now work with troubled teenagers. I recently earned another college degree. Now, I want to share the news that I just released my first nonfiction book that is now available on Amazon in paperback format and on Kindle ebooks. This is a dream come true for me. I invested the last several years pouring out my heart and soul into this manuscript in order to make a difference in our society. The book “100 Years, A Journey to End a Vicious Cycle” is a true story of how my family wasted more than one hundred years in prison. This took place in one family because of the choices that were made. I understand that this is a problem that extended to our community as well as society as a whole. There are a number with multiple family members in prison or who’ve been in prison. My hope is to make a difference within my family, in the community as well as society. Many years ago I was told that my life was done. I am here as a living testimony, that my life now has meaning and purpose. I would like to encourage everyone to reach for your goals in life. As long as your alive, there is always hope! Thank you for reading this post.
Good morning Everyone! I just have a short message from my hood to yours. Growing up in a low income housing project can present a number of challenges. There are also challenges when being raised without the presence of a father. These challenges can sometimes effect our will to pay attention and learn while in school. Some of us fall off and give up hope at this very point. Without an education, it is nearly impossible to earn an honest living. Drugs and crime are more available than getting a job sometimes. This is not an excuse for crime or any negative behavior. I am just pointed out some of the realities that exist in my hood. There is a need for men and women of the hood to stand up and take charge. Set a good example for our younger generation to follow. In the process we may win back some of the older ones who gave up years ago. For those of who knows better, it is time for us to do better. Each one, teach one! United we will Stand and divided we will Fall. We are responsible for making a positive difference in our own community. Have a good day!
